PostgreSQL on Linux MInt: createuser: could not connect to database postgres: could not connect to server: No such file or directory -


i've been 4 hours trying fix this, , i'm unable fix it. error: 

createuser: not connect database postgres: not connect server: no such file or directory server running locally , accepting connections on unix domain socket "/var/run/postgresql/.s.pgsql.5432"?

this error shown when try database, can start service, etc.. that's it.

can provide me way fixed? thanks!
