amazon web services - AWS Dynamo Write Capacity Graphs don't agree -


i can see 2 graphs write capacity: 1 thru cloudwatch alarms , other thru dynamodb console. here cloudwatch shows me:

looks write capacity spikes 8,000 write capacity units.

then go dynamo console , see:

not close high , not on capacity allocated.

why don't these 2 agree? why cloudwatch alarm go off?

to have 2 comparable graphs, ensure both shown same settings. chosen "statistic" , "period" must match retrieve comparable results.

what's used cloudwatch graph isn't clear screenshot, @ least dynamodb graph shows it's using "average" statistic , "1 min" period.

my guess cloudwatch graph showing "maximum" or "p99" statistic instead of "average" one.
